Messaging
Messaging lets you stay connected with your caretakers — family, friends, or guardians — through the glasses and the mobile app. On the glasses you send voice messages hands-free. In the app, messaging becomes a full-featured chat with media and shareable content.
On the Glasses (Voice-Only)
Send a message
Hold the button and say:
- “Send message”, “Send voice message”, “Record message”, or “Message caretaker”
Chinese: “发送消息”
Check new messages
- “Check messages”, “Any messages”, “New messages”
Chinese: “查看消息”
Pick who to message
- “List caretakers”, “Show caretakers”, “Who can I message”
Chinese: “列出照顾者”
Switch caretaker
- “Switch caretaker”, “Change caretaker”, “Select caretaker”
Chinese: “切换照顾者”
Example Flow
You: “Send message”
VISION: “Say 1 for Mum, 2 for Dad.”
You: “1”
VISION: “Hold button and speak your message.”
You: (holds button) “Hi, I’ve arrived at the office safely.”
VISION: “Message sent to Mum.”
When a caretaker sends a message back, VISION announces it automatically:
VISION: “New message from Mum.”
You can listen now or check later with “Check messages”.
In the Mobile App (Rich Messaging)
In the Chat section of the app, messaging becomes a full two-way experience with rich content.
Message types
- Text messages — traditional chat typing
- Voice messages — record and send audio clips
- Images — take a photo or pick from your gallery
- Videos — share short video clips
Shareable items
A unique part of VISION messaging — you can share content from inside the app directly into chat:

| Share a familiar face | Send a registered face so the recipient can add it to their own list |
| Share a detected face | Notify the other person about someone you’ve seen |
| Share a location | Share a favourite location (name, emoji, and address) |
| Share a WiFi network | Share WiFi credentials so the other user can connect |
This means if a caretaker wants the glasses user to know a new contact (“this is Aunty Fatimah”), they can share the face directly — and the user’s glasses instantly recognize her.
Other chat features
- Read receipts — see when messages have been read
- Reply to specific messages — keep conversations organized
- Delete messages — remove messages you’ve sent
- Media gallery — quickly browse all photos and videos shared in a conversation
Notifications
Incoming messages trigger push notifications on the mobile app — even when the app is closed. Tap a notification to jump straight to the conversation.
